The Cleveland Cavaliers are monitoring the health of two rotation players after both were hurt during Wednesday’s game in Philadelphia.

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Darius Garland is dealing with soreness in his toe, while Sam Merrill suffered a sprain to his right hand.

Both players are expected to undergo further evaluation over the weekend.

Garland, the team’s second-leading scorer, is experiencing discomfort in his right big toe, which is separate from, but adds to, ongoing concerns related to the opposite foot.

That earlier toe injury required surgery during the offseason and has continued to flare up at times, making the current soreness another issue to track as the season progresses.

Merrill’s situation appears less alarming.

He previously missed roughly a month earlier this season with a right hand sprain, but team sources told Fedor that this latest injury involves significantly less swelling and bruising.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson noted that Merrill was able to use his hand normally prior to Friday’s game, suggesting the team is cautiously optimistic about his availability going forward.
