In the aftermath of the trade that sent Trae Young to the Washington Wizards while reshaping the Atlanta Hawks roster and future flexibility, national analysts have offered sharply different reactions.

Kevin Pelton of ESPN sees the transaction as a mutually beneficial exchange.

In his view, both teams addressed immediate priorities without mortgaging their long-term outlooks, leading him to assign matching B grades and frame the deal as a reasonable compromise rather than a decisive victory for either side.

Not everyone agrees.

Zach Harper of The Athletic offered a far more lopsided evaluation.

Harper was highly skeptical of the Hawks’ return, handing Atlanta a D-plus while applauding Washington’s haul with an A, signaling his belief that the Wizards capitalized far more effectively on the opportunity than their trade partner.
