The Atlanta Hawks dominated the Washington Wizards 119-98, behind Jonathan Kuminga’s debut with his new team on Tuesday night.

Kuminga scored a season-high 27 points for the Hawks coming off the bench, and delivered a thunderous dunk shortly after taking the court for the first time near the midway point of the first quarter.

The former Warriors forward has completed his recovery from a left knee bone bruise and knocked down a trio from beyond the arc to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 24 ½ minutes.

Meanwhile, Young was the focus at the beginning of the night. The longtime Hawks star was dealt to the Wizards in early January, ending an eight-year tenure that included four All-Star Game berths and an improbable run to the Eastern Conference finals in 2021.

Atlanta played a tribute video to Young during a break in the second quarter, drawing a standing ovation from a crowd that included many fans wearing his No. 11 jersey.

The Hawks led by 15 at the end of the first quarter and totally ran away from the Wizards in the third period, stretching the lead to 100-64.

Will Riley led the Wizards with 18 points.

The teams will meet again on Thursday night to complete back-to-back games in Atlanta.
