The Washington Wizards travel to State Farm Arena to face the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, February 24, at 7:00 PM ET. Both teams enter the game with significant injury concerns that could affect rotations and strategies.
Washington will be without D’Angelo Russell, Leaky Black, Anthony Davis, Alex Sarr, and Cam Whitmore. Justin Champagnie and Tristan Vukcevic are listed as questionable, while Trae Young remains sidelined with a right knee MCL sprain and quad contusion. Whitmore’s absence is due to right shoulder deep vein thrombosis, and Sarr is out with a right hamstring strain.
Atlanta faces fewer key injuries, but Jonathan Kuminga is questionable with a left knee bone bruise. RayJ Dennis, Caleb Houstan, and Asa Newell are doubtful, with Dennis and Houstan on two-way contracts and Newell on a G League assignment.
The Wizards’ recent form has been mixed. They won 131-118 against the Indiana Pacers on February 20, but fell 112-129 to the Charlotte Hornets on February 22.
Kyshawn George has maintained steady production, averaging 14.9 points and 4.6 assists per game, while Sarr contributed 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds before his hamstring setback.
Atlanta comes off a 97-128 loss to the Miami Heat and rebounded with a 115-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Jalen Johnson leads the team with 23.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, while Onyeka Okongwu adds 16.1 points and 7.7 boards. Nickeil Alexander-Walker averages nearly 20 points per contest.
This game marks the third meeting of the season between the two squads. Washington won 132-113 at home on November 25, but the Hawks returned the favor with a 131-116 victory in Washington on December 6.
The Wizards sit at 16-39, 13th in the Eastern Conference, while Atlanta holds a 27-31 record, ninth in the East.
