The Washington Wizards visit the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, February 26, at 7:00 PM ET, facing significant roster challenges.
Washington will be without Anthony Davis (left finger sprain), D’Angelo Russell (not with team), Alex Sarr (right hamstring strain), Cam Whitmore (right shoulder DVT), and Trae Young (right knee MCL sprain, quad contusion). Kyshawn George (left knee contusion) and Tristan Vukcevic (left hip impingement) are listed as questionable.
Atlanta’s injury list is lighter, with Nickeil Alexander-Walker (left foot sprain), Jalen Johnson (left hip flexor irritation), and Zaccharie Risacher (right hip contusion) all questionable. Two-way players RayJ Dennis, Caleb Houstan, and Asa Newell are doubtful due to G League assignments or injuries.
Washington has struggled recently, dropping its last two games, including a 119-98 loss to Atlanta on February 24 and a 129-112 home defeat to Charlotte on February 22.
Alex Sarr leads the team with 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, but his hamstring issue could leave a gap in the paint. Kyshawn George averages 14.8 points and 5.2 rebounds, though his knee contusion may limit his availability.
Atlanta enters Thursday on a two-game winning streak, including the recent 119-98 victory over Washington and a 115-104 win over Brooklyn.
Jalen Johnson has been a key contributor, averaging 23 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, while Dyson Daniels adds 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds.
The season series favors Atlanta, with the Hawks winning two of the first three meetings. Washington’s lone victory came at home 132-113 on November 25, but the team fell 131-116 on the road in December.
The Wizards remain 13th in the Eastern Conference at 16-41, while Atlanta holds the ninth spot at 29-31, trailing Miami by 4.5 games.
