After missing two games last week because of soreness in his right groin, Lakers forward Rui Hachimura was again sidelined Tuesday against Detroit, this time due to discomfort in his right calf.

While the situation has drawn some concern, the team does not believe the issue will linger long-term, according to reporting from Khobi Price of The Orange County Register.

Head coach JJ Redick indicated that the plan is to give Hachimura a short recovery window before gradually ramping him back up.

“He’ll miss a couple games,” Redick said. “Then we’ll get him ramped up and, hopefully, he’s playing again in the next week.”

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that Hachimura is expected to remain out for Friday’s and Sunday’s games against Memphis.

The Lakers then face a back-to-back set next Tuesday and Wednesday against New Orleans and San Antonio, and there is optimism that he could return for at least one of those matchups if his recovery continues on schedule.
