After over three season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rui Hachimura suited in a new uniform with the Clippers on Sunday with a 104-101 victory against the Golden State Warriors in their first preseason matchup.
Despite being in a new environment for the swingman, Hachimura has showed confident quick adjustments after dropping 21 points and 5 boards in 15 minutes.
“This is what I do. It’s not new. You guys have been seeing it. But with a new team, Ty and the coaching staff they’ve been communicating, I’ve been communicating with them, how much they want me to be aggressive. Especially on the offensive side… We talk about the things I like, the things I don’t like. They’ve been good with that. They’re making the right calls. That’s why I got easy shots,” he said.
The Japanese forward talked about experience playing with three different teams and being in his eighth year, where he can adapt new system along with Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue.
“It’s experience you know, I’ve been with two or three different teams. This is my eighth year. I’ve been in the playoff many times. It’s experience… Just been communicating with [Ty] a lot, especially this whole camp. That’s important. I like to learn from him,” Hachimura added.
Hachimura won the NBA All-Rookie Second Team on 2020 after a strong debut with the Washington Wizards.
