After recently floating the idea that the Raptors should seriously look into offering Mo Bamba a 10-day contract next month, Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca followed up by asking around the league why the former lottery pick remains in the G League instead of holding down an NBA roster spot.

The response he received pointed less toward talent and more toward concerns about reliability and sustained effort.

According to league sources, teams still believe Bamba possesses the physical tools and skill set to make a real impact at the NBA level, but there is lingering doubt about whether he consistently brings the level of intensity needed to maximize that potential.

The feeling is that his ability has never been the issue; rather, it’s the inconsistency in how often he fully applies it that continues to hold him back.

Despite those concerns, Bamba has been productive with the Salt Lake City Stars this season.

Across 14 appearances, he has averaged 16.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, numbers that highlight just how dominant he can be when engaged.
