The Austin Spurs have added Christian Koloko to their organization after securing his G League rights from the available player pool, a move officially confirmed by San Antonio’s affiliate through a press release.

According to the NBA G League transaction log, Koloko was claimed via waivers, making him eligible to suit up for Austin at the developmental level.

Koloko entered the league as the 33rd overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft and showed encouraging flashes during his rookie season with the Toronto Raptors, particularly as a rim protector and energy big.

His momentum stalled soon after, as a blood clot issue forced him to miss the entire 2023/24 season. Toronto ultimately waived him in January 2024 while he continued to focus on his health and recovery.

The 6-foot-11 center found another opportunity last summer, signing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2024. A key step forward came in October, when the NBA’s fitness-to-play panel medically cleared Koloko, allowing him to officially resume his professional career.

He spent the full season within the Lakers organization and was brought back on a second two-way deal in July, signaling continued belief in his long-term potential.

That stint ended in late November, when Los Angeles waived Koloko to open a roster spot for Drew Timme. Now, with Austin acquiring his G League rights, Koloko has a new platform to showcase his progress and rebuild momentum after a difficult stretch.

Across 97 NBA appearances, Koloko has posted averages of 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game, numbers that reflect his limited role but also his defensive-minded skill set.
