Brooklyn Nets have brought back its first-round pick from the G League, recalling Nolan Traore from Long Island on Thursday, and there’s a chance the rookie could see minutes right away.
The 19th overall selection showed well during his time in the G League, averaging 18.8 points and 6.4 assists across 13 appearances while knocking down over 43 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Head coach Jordi Fernandez highlighted what immediately stands out about Traore’s game.
“His superpower is speed,” Fernandez said, pointing to how quickly the young guard can impact the pace of play.
The coach also praised Traore’s confidence as a shooter, noting that he has been taking and making shots without hesitation, something the coaching staff has been eager to see.
Beyond scoring, Fernandez emphasized growth in other areas of Traore’s game. He mentioned that the rookie has worked to become more vocal on the floor, a key trait for a point guard, and acknowledged early struggles with turnovers.
Fernandez stressed that mistakes are part of development, adding that what matters most is how a player responds.
Recently, Traore has shown improvement in that area, posting strong assist-to-turnover numbers over his last few games, leaving the coaching staff encouraged by his progress.
