With trade rumors beginning to circulate in the league, the Brooklyn Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez is urging his team to stay grounded and concentrate on what they can actually control.
As front offices shift into deal-making mode, Fernandez acknowledged that this stretch of the season can be uncomfortable for players, but emphasized that distractions can’t interfere with daily work and growth.
Speaking to the New York Post, the coach noted that speculation is simply part of the NBA calendar, even if it’s not something teams enjoy navigating.
He stressed that the coaching staff remains committed to the players currently in the locker room and wants the group to stay locked in on competing and improving rather than worrying about outside chatter.
Fernandez made it clear that decisions made beyond the court are out of the team’s hands, and spending energy on them serves no purpose.
Instead, the focus remains on effort, responsibility, and building strong habits. His message to the team is straightforward: control what’s controllable, show up ready to work, and let everything else sort itself out.
