Max Christie, now with the Dallas Mavericks after being part of the major trade that brought Luka Doncic to Los Angeles, was asked about the emotions of facing the Lakers again.

Christie made it clear he wasn’t attaching any extra meaning to the matchup.

As he explained in comments captured by Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News, “It’s the same. I mean I was here last year, too. I’m a Maverick so I’m not really thinking about it like that. It’s just another game.”

Christie added that while returning to Los Angeles feels familiar, he’s keeping the focus on his current team rather than any past connections.

“It feels good. It’s cool to be back. Just another game,” he said.

Christie has played 4 seasons for the Lakers and Mavericks. He has averaged 6.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 206 regular-season games.
