Brandon Ingram spoke at the 2025 Raptors Media Day about joining the team after recovering from an injury. He described the move as a “fresh start” and expressed excitement about integrating with the new roster.

“I’m just excited to bring my skill level and make things easier for other guys, playmaking, scoring the basketball, defense, getting skills, going on the other end, and just having fun,” Ingram said.

Ingram highlighted the Raptors’ energy and defensive intensity as key factors that drew him to the team. He praised the summer work of RJ Barrett, noting his improved consistency on both ends of the court. “Watching his game and seeing what he works on, he’s steady, aggressive, and a guy that doesn’t complain about not having the basketball,” Ingram said.

Reflecting on his own recovery, Ingram emphasized personal growth over outside validation. “Rather than proving people wrong, it’s just proving to myself who I am,” he said. “Stepping into a new role, new teammates, new coaches, having a responsibility of being my best self every day and winning basketball games, that’s the most exciting part.”

Ingram also addressed the Raptors’ potential trio of scorers alongside Scottie Barnes and Barrett. He pointed to their selflessness as a key reason for expected chemistry. “We’ll step into roles trying to do whatever it takes to win,” he said.

Discussing Immanuel Quickley’s development, Ingram noted his leadership growth and ability to involve teammates. “He’s speaking up in practices, making sure his voice is heard, and he’s going to score, too. He’s an important piece for our team,” Ingram said.

Ingram shared his impressions of Toronto, highlighting the city’s enthusiastic fan base. “The most impressive thing is seeing every seat in the arena filled up, every single game. That’s definitely different from New Orleans,” he said.

He also described offseason bonding with teammates in Newport Beach as a way to strengthen chemistry. “Getting away from the coaches, working out, building some chemistry—it makes it easier to communicate on the floor,” Ingram said.

Addressing his own game, Ingram spoke about adding new dimensions, including three-point shooting, while refining his defense under coach Darko Rajakovic’s system. “I know Darko is going to be on me a lot about the defensive end and trying to make my game complete,” he said.

Ingram emphasized his passing ability and vision, noting how the Raptors’ movement-heavy offense will benefit his style. “I see a lot of passes on the floor, kicking out to threes, dropping it down—you get everybody involved, and it brings a different energy to the team,” he said.

He concluded by reflecting on his lifelong love for basketball and his development under the guidance of mentors and family. “I just love the game. It helped me feed my family, it brings joy, and it’s just fun,” Ingram said.
