Jalen Suggs has provided the latest update on his recovery from knee surgery, offering insight into a process that has stretched through the summer.
Speaking on The Sixth Man Show podcast, the Orlando Magic guard admitted that the journey has been challenging but emphasized steady progress. “The knee has been a process,” Suggs said, via Orlando Sentinel. “I’ve loved the growth, I’ve loved all that this summer has had in store for me. This is definitely the hardest summer that I’ve had so far.”
Suggs underwent arthroscopic surgery in March to remove a cartilage fragment from his left knee. He has not played since and was ruled out indefinitely at the time.
The 24-year-old explained that his rehabilitation has gone beyond strengthening the injured knee. “I’m just really getting to work on minute muscles and really detailed parts about my body that just have been overlooked up to this point. So it’s been great,” he said.
While Suggs avoided giving a timetable for his return, he made it clear that the process remains on track. “Camp and the return will come in time, in [God’s] time, but our process is really working and I love the spot that we’re in right now,” he said.
Before the setback, Suggs was in the midst of his best season as a professional. He averaged 16.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while playing 28.6 minutes per game.
Selected fifth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Suggs has steadily developed into a key piece of the Magic’s young core. The organization has not released a timeline for his return but expects him to fully recover.
