Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing his mouthpiece toward the spectator stands, the league announced Saturday.
The incident happened during Thursday’s loss in Charlotte, with 5:35 left in the first quarter, and resulted in Suggs receiving a technical foul.
The 24-year-old guard, the No. 5 pick in the 2021 draft, is averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals this season while shooting .435/.325/.838 in 46 games.
Known for his defensive impact, Suggs earned All-Defensive Second Team honors a couple of years ago.
He signed a five-year, $150.5MM rookie extension in 2024 and is making $35MM this season, so the fine is unlikely to have a significant financial impact.
