Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero expressed confidence that his team has the roster to compete deep into the playoffs. Speaking with Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Banchero said, “I think we should be a deep playoff team. Hopefully, that means Finals. But if it’s anything shorter than that, then Eastern Conference finals.”

Banchero highlighted the depth of the Magic roster and stressed the importance of performing during the regular season. “Seeing our team, seeing the guys so far — it’s early, but I think we have the type of team that can make a run to the Finals,” he added.

The 6-foot-10 forward has started the 2024–25 season with historic performances, including a 33-point, 11-rebound opener against the Miami Heat. That performance placed him alongside Shaquille O’Neal and Tracy McGrady as the only Magic players to score 30+ points with 10+ rebounds in a season opener.

Banchero followed with a career-high 50 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, and two blocks in a win over the Indiana Pacers on October 28, 2024. His offensive and playmaking versatility has been a key factor for Orlando early this season.

Despite suffering a torn right oblique on October 30, Banchero returned to action on January 10, 2025, posting 34 points and seven rebounds against the Milwaukee Bucks. He later scored 36 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a February 20 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Banchero signed a five-year, $239 million extension with the Magic on July 7, securing his role as the franchise cornerstone. His 2024–25 season averages include 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, reflecting consistent all-around production.

The Magic enter the 2025–26 season with a roster blending veteran talent and young prospects. Alongside Banchero, players like Desmond Bane, Wendell Carter Jr., and Franz Wagner are expected to provide complementary scoring and defensive presence under coach Jamahl Mosley.
