Despite publicly stating their desire to keep Jalen Duren long-term, the Detroit Pistons have not yet made meaningful progress toward a new contract with the restricted free agent center.

Pistons president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon acknowledged that Detroit remains interested in retaining Duren but indicated that negotiations have not advanced significantly at this point in the offseason.

The situation is one of several important contract decisions facing the organization, with Amen Thompson also becoming eligible for a rookie-scale extension this summer.

“Those will be conversations that will be had. But to be completely honest, you will never know how those conversations go,” Langdon said.

Duren has played 4 seasons for the Pistons. He has averaged 13.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 276 regular-season games.
