Devin Booker described the last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns as the “toughest” of his career. He cited a “disconnect” among players and differing objectives as key challenges during that period, according to John Gambadoro on X

Booker reflected on the lack of a unified plan last year, saying on The Burns & Gambo Show, “I don’t think there was any hatred in our last group amongst the guys I just think when you are all on a different plan and don’t have the same common goal or same objective than that’s what it turns into.”

Despite team struggles, Booker’s individual performance remained elite. In the 2023–24 season, he averaged 27.1 points and 6.9 assists while earning his fourth All-Star selection.

He posted several historic performances, including a 62-point game against Indiana and a 52-point outing versus New Orleans. Booker became the ninth player in NBA history to record multiple 60-plus-point games.

In the 2024–25 season, Booker surpassed Walter Davis as the Suns’ all-time leading scorer. He also scored a season-high 47 points in an overtime victory against Utah. His averages of 25.6 points and 7.1 assists highlighted his consistency.

The Suns have undergone a significant offseason reshaping. Mike Budenholzer was fired after one season, replaced by Jordan Ott on a four-year deal. The front office was reorganized with Brian Gregory promoted to general manager and James Jones moving to NBA office.

Phoenix also made a record-breaking seven-team trade sending Kevin Durant to the Rockets. The deal brought in Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and rookie Khaman Maluach, among other assets. Bradley Beal’s remaining contract was waived and stretched to improve financial flexibility.

Booker recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Suns, securing his role in the team’s future plans. He remains a central figure as Phoenix rebuilds around younger talent and new leadership.

The Suns enter the 2025–26 season with high expectations to rebound from two disappointing campaigns. With Booker leading the charge, management hopes the team can return to playoff contention and reestablish stability.
