The largest trade in NBA history is now official, with Kevin Durant at the center of a groundbreaking seven-team deal that reshapes rosters across the league.
NBA insider Shams Charania reported the full terms Friday, confirming that the Houston Rockets acquired Durant and Clint Capela, while the Phoenix Suns landed Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and a package of young talent and picks.
The historic transaction includes the Rockets, Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves — eclipsing last summer’s six-team Klay Thompson trade as the biggest in league history.
Houston adds Durant to a young core that already features Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., and Fred VanVleet, signaling its intent to contend immediately after finishing second in the Western Conference at 52–30 last season. Capela, coming via sign-and-trade, adds size and playoff experience to the Rockets’ frontcourt.
Phoenix receives Green, Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea, Daeqwon Plowden, and a second-round pick. This infusion of youth and defensive versatility gives the Suns flexibility to rebuild after missing the playoffs at 36–46.
Elsewhere in the deal, Brooklyn nets two second-round picks, Golden State receives Alex Toohey and Jahmai Mashack, Atlanta picks up David Roddy, cash, and a second-round swap, while the Lakers acquire Adou Thiero. Minnesota rounds out the trade by obtaining Rocco Zikarsky, two second-rounders, and cash.
The move builds on the Suns’ desire to reset their roster, with Houston positioned to compete for a championship behind its newly formed star trio. Phoenix, meanwhile, enters free agency armed with young scorers, defensive depth, and additional draft assets.
This seven-team deal also continues a trend of increasingly complex transactions, driven by salary cap management, draft capital maneuvering, and creative player movement strategies.
Durant, who averaged 26.6 points per game this season, remains one of the league’s premier scorers and now joins his fourth NBA team in search of another championship run.
