Kelly Oubre Jr. addressed Philadelphia 76ers fans directly on Instagram, expressing frustration over what he described as a lack of support during his time with the team.
“I love Philly, but the love doesn’t seem to be reciprocated,” Oubre wrote, per Sixers Wire’s Ky Carlin. The 29-year-old forward defended his play while citing injuries he battled through, including finger surgeries on his left thumb and pinky.
Oubre has been at the center of trade speculation this offseason as the 76ers evaluate their roster after a 24-58 finish. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, his $8.4 million expiring contract makes him a realistic candidate to be moved.
Last season, Oubre averaged 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 60 appearances, starting 57 games. His three-point shooting dipped to 29.3 percent, but he remained one of Philadelphia’s most consistent scoring options.
Despite criticism, Oubre pointed to his effort and production, writing that he “still put up numbers” while committing fully to the team. He also highlighted his ability to perform in the postseason, where he averaged 13.2 points on 39.1 percent from deep in the 2024 playoffs.
The Sixers face broader uncertainty with stars Joel Embiid and Paul George both recovering from injuries. Embiid’s training camp status remains unclear, while George underwent knee surgery in July.
That uncertainty has left Philadelphia weighing potential roster changes to better balance the team around Tyrese Maxey and its younger core. Moving Oubre would provide financial flexibility while also giving a contender an athletic wing with playoff experience.
Oubre, who entered the league in 2015, has already played for five franchises — Washington, Phoenix, Golden State, Charlotte, and Philadelphia. His defensive length, transition scoring, and energy on the wing have kept him a sought-after piece, though questions about shooting consistency persist.
