Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been ruled out for Game 2 against the New York Knicks because of ankle and hip injuries, according to ESPN sources.

Embiid reportedly dealt with increased soreness in both injuries and was unable to participate in the team’s morning shootaround. Sources said he had been receiving constant treatment in hopes of being cleared to play.

The Sixers will now be without their franchise star as they try to bounce back from their Game 1 loss and avoid falling behind 2-0 in the series against New York.
