The Philadelphia 76ers are weighing roster changes after a disappointing 24-58 season, and forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has surfaced as a potential trade candidate, per NBA insider Jake Fischer.

Oubre’s expiring $8.4 million contract makes him a movable piece as the franchise evaluates its future.

The 29-year-old averaged 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals across 60 games last season, starting in 57 of them. Despite struggles from deep at 29.3 percent, he remained one of the team’s most reliable scoring wings.

Oubre joined the 76ers in 2023 after stints with Washington, Phoenix, Golden State, and Charlotte. His defensive length and slashing ability have made him a useful role player, though consistency beyond scoring has been a long-standing question.

Playoff contenders could see value in adding Oubre’s athleticism on the wing. His postseason showing with Philadelphia in 2024 included 13.2 points per game on 39.1 percent three-point shooting, signaling his ability to perform on bigger stages.

The Sixers, meanwhile, face uncertainty with stars Joel Embiid and Paul George recovering from injuries. Embiid’s availability for training camp remains unclear, while George underwent knee surgery in July.

Trading Oubre could give Philadelphia flexibility to reshape its roster around Tyrese Maxey and its younger core. His expiring contract would also allow another team to add him without long-term salary commitment.

For Oubre, the situation is familiar. He has played for five franchises since entering the league in 2015, carving out a career as a scoring forward capable of adapting to different roles.
