Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee Monday, the team confirmed through ESPN’s Shams Charania. The procedure was performed to address an injury he sustained during a recent offseason workout.
George, who signed a four-year, $212 million deal with the 76ers in July 2024, will begin a rehabilitation program immediately and is expected to be re-evaluated before the start of training camp. According to the report, the team remains optimistic about his recovery timeline.
The 35-year-old joined Philadelphia last summer to form a star trio alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, raising expectations for a championship run. However, his first season in Philadelphia was marred by injuries and inconsistency, limiting him to just 41 games.
George averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in 2024–25, posting his lowest scoring average since his second NBA season. He missed the end of the campaign due to lingering adductor and knee issues as the 76ers finished with a disappointing 23–59 record.
The procedure comes after a challenging year where George struggled to regain his usual form. Despite notable performances — including surpassing Vince Carter for ninth place on the all-time three-pointers made list — his overall production fell short of expectations.
