The Dallas Mavericks announced their full coaching staff under head coach Jason Kidd for the 2025-26 season, introducing significant changes from last year’s group.

The team confirmed Frank Vogel as associate head coach, joining Kidd’s bench alongside Jay Triano, Popeye Jones, Phil Handy, Mike Penberthy, Eric Hughes, Josh Broghamer, Dru Anthrop, Keith Veney, and Jordan Sears.

Compared to the 2024-25 season, several assistants are no longer with the team. Darrell Armstrong, Jared Dudley, Alex Jensen, God Shammgod, and Sean Sweeney have departed, clearing the way for a restructured staff with new additions.

The headline move is the promotion of Vogel, who previously served as head coach for the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns, to the associate head coach. He brings championship experience, having guided the Lakers to the 2020 NBA title.

Another notable addition is Phil Handy, widely respected for his player development work with stars such as LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kawhi Leonard. Handy’s reputation for skill development and defensive teaching is expected to be valuable for a Mavericks roster featuring veterans and young talent.

Popeye Jones, a former Dallas forward, returns to the organization with NBA coaching experience from his stints with the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets. His background in player relations and frontcourt development adds depth to the staff.

Mike Penberthy, known for his shooting expertise, and Dru Anthrop, who has worked in analytics and scouting, also join the bench, while Keith Veney and Jordan Sears expand their roles in player development and support.

Holdovers from last year include Eric Hughes and Josh Broghamer, maintaining continuity in the system Kidd has built since taking over as head coach in 2021.

The Mavericks are coming off a season that saw them land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, where they selected Cooper Flagg. Kidd’s reshaped staff is tasked with maximizing both the rookie’s development and the production of stars such as Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and Kyrie Irving.
