The 2025 NBA Draft tipped off with a surprising yet historic selection. The Dallas Mavericks, who entered the lottery with just a 1.8% chance at the top pick, made Duke forward Cooper Flagg the No. 1 overall selection.

It marks a major moment for the Mavericks, who are adding one of the most hyped prospects in years. Flagg will wear No. 32 for Dallas, switching from his college No. 2.

At No. 2, the San Antonio Spurs selected Dylan Harper, a talented point guard from Rutgers. Harper joins a team that already boasts back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners in Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

The Philadelphia 76ers picked up shooting guard V.J. Edgecombe from Baylor with the third overall selection, followed by Duke wing Kon Knueppel going to the Charlotte Hornets at No. 4.

One of the more surprising picks came at No. 5, where the Utah Jazz took Ace Bailey from Rutgers. Bailey had not worked out for any teams and was reportedly hoping to land with the Wizards, Pelicans, or Nets.
