Mikel Brown Jr. has emerged as one of the most closely tracked guard prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft cycle, with multiple lottery teams monitoring his stock as his range settles firmly inside the top 10.
According to Evan Sidery on Thursday, June 11, Brown’s draft positioning is now viewed by several front offices as landing between picks No. 5 and No. 9.
Sidery reported that the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks are among the teams showing significant pre-draft interest in the Louisville guard. He added that Brown’s “positive feedback” across evaluations has solidified his standing as a top-10 lock heading into draft week.
Brown’s freshman season at Louisville provides a statistical foundation for his rise. In 21 games (19 starts), he averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 29.2 minutes per game, while shooting 41.0% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range. He also converted 84.4% of his free throws, highlighting strong efficiency at the line despite uneven shooting stretches from deep.
The offensive profile is driven heavily by shot creation volume. Brown attempted 13.0 shots per game and logged a 7.6 three-point attempt rate, indicating a perimeter-heavy scoring role within Louisville’s half-court structure. His 3.1 turnovers per game reflect high usage responsibilities as a primary initiator in his first collegiate season.
Each linked team enters the draft with varying levels of guard need and draft capital positioning.
The Clippers hold the No. 5 pick after a 42-40 season that ended with a play-in exit, while the Nets sit at No. 6 following a 20-62 campaign that placed them near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Sacramento selects at No. 7 after finishing 22-60, and Atlanta holds No. 8 via New Orleans after a 46-36 season that ended in a first-round playoff loss.
Dallas owns the No. 9 pick after a 26-56 season, leaving all five franchises within the exact range Sidery outlined for Brown’s projected landing zone. That cluster of selections directly aligns with his reported evaluation tier between picks 5 and 9.
The broader 2026 draft class adds context to Brown’s positioning, with guards such as Darryn Peterson, Kingston Flemings, Keaton Wagler and Labaron Philon Jr. also in circulation among lottery conversations.
At the top of the draft board, Washington, Utah and Memphis hold the first three selections, while Chicago, the Clippers, Brooklyn and Sacramento control much of the mid-lottery traffic before Atlanta and Dallas close the top nine.
With the draft scheduled for June 23-24 in Brooklyn, teams in Brown’s range are expected to finalize workouts and trade scenarios quickly as they evaluate whether his scoring profile translates into a primary or secondary creation role at the NBA level.
