DeMar DeRozan delivered a decisive fourth quarter Wednesday night as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Toronto Raptors 123-115 at Scotiabank Arena.
DeRozan scored 14 of his 28 points in the final period, helping Sacramento close out its five-game road trip with a victory.
The veteran forward also climbed the NBA’s all-time scoring list during the game. DeRozan reached 26,688 career points, passing Dominique Wilkins for 17th place.
Oscar Robertson is next on the list with 26,710 points. Among the players ahead of DeRozan, only LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook are still active.
While DeRozan controlled the closing stretch, Precious Achiuwa dominated the interior throughout the night.
Achiuwa finished with 28 points and a season-high 19 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards that repeatedly extended Sacramento possessions.
The big man set the tone early with 18 points and 15 rebounds by halftime. His rebound total at the break matched his previous season high, while the entire Toronto roster had 18 rebounds in the first half.
Sacramento’s ability to control the glass helped offset a strong shooting performance from the Raptors.
The Kings shot 46 percent from the field and went 27-for-29 at the free-throw line. Toronto finished 22-for-32 from the foul line.
Malik Monk provided scoring off the bench with 18 points, while rookie Devin Carter added 13 points and five rebounds.
Daeqwon Plowden chipped in 11 points as Sacramento snapped a four-game losing streak.
The victory also improved the Kings to 7-32 on the road this season.
Toronto kept the game competitive with balanced scoring across its lineup.
RJ Barrett scored 20 points and Collin Murray-Boyles added 20 off the bench, marking the rookie’s first career 20-point game.
Jakob Poeltl finished with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Jamal Shead recorded 16 points and seven assists.
Scottie Barnes contributed a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, facilitating Toronto’s offense throughout the night.
Sandro Mamukelashvili also scored 17 points on efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
Despite shooting 55 percent overall, Toronto struggled to generate stops in key moments during the fourth quarter.
The loss halted the Raptors’ five-game home winning streak and complicated their position in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Toronto entered the night tied in the standings with Philadelphia, but the 76ers hold the tiebreaker because of a stronger Atlantic Division record.
Brandon Ingram did not play for the Raptors due to a sore right heel. He has now missed two of the past three games and three of the last six.
Sacramento returns home Friday to face the New Orleans Pelicans. Toronto travels to Memphis on Friday for its next matchup.
