Former NBA guard Isaiah Wong is continuing his professional basketball journey in Europe, having officially parted ways with Lithuanian powerhouse Zalgiris Kaunas to sign with Spanish club Gran Canaria. The move was confirmed by Gran Canaria through an official press release.
Wong, who was selected 55th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, began his pro career on a two-way contract with the Indiana Pacers. He then spent a portion of the 2024–25 season under a similar agreement with the Charlotte Hornets.
While his time on an NBA court was limited – appearing in just one game for Indiana – he saw more action with Charlotte, where he played in 20 games.
During that stretch, he averaged 6.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in roughly 13 minutes per game. Notably, Wong showed potential from beyond the arc, converting 39.4% of his three-point attempts, although he struggled inside the arc with a 38.9% field goal percentage on two-pointers.
In the G League, Wong demonstrated a more well-rounded game. Splitting time between the Salt Lake City Stars and the Greensboro Swarm, he delivered strong performances, averaging 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per contest.
He shot an efficient 45.4% from the field overall, including 38.8% from three-point range and 80.4% from the free throw line over 14 games.
After being waived by the Hornets in February, Wong made the jump to Europe to join Zalgiris Kaunas for the remainder of the season, gaining valuable experience in the highly competitive EuroLeague.
Now, he will bring his scoring ability and versatility to Gran Canaria, a team that finished with a 19–15 record in Spain’s top-tier Liga ACB during the previous season.
The club secured the seventh seed in the standings but was knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by Valencia Basket. Wong will aim to bolster the backcourt and help the team make a deeper postseason run this coming season.
