The Brooklyn Nets have made a move in the international market, agreeing to a deal with Chinese forward Fanbo Zeng, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The 22-year-old standout was one of the top prospects in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Standing at 6’10”, Zeng averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game last season with the Beijing Ducks. His 41% three-point shooting and 53% field goal efficiency make him a valuable stretch forward for Brooklyn’s system.
Zeng was once considered China’s top basketball prospect and initially committed to Gonzaga before joining the NBA G League Ignite in 2021. After a brief stint with the Indiana Pacers in 2022, he returned to China.
This signing continues the NBA’s growing trend of tapping into CBA talent, following in the footsteps of players like Zhou Qi and Jeremy Lin.
With training camp approaching, all eyes will be on how quickly Zeng adapts to the NBA’s pace. If he translates his CBA success, the Nets may have landed a sneaky-good pickup for their frontcourt rotation.
