Marcus Morris, who last played in the NBA in 2024, is facing legal trouble after being accused of stealing over $250,000 from two major Las Vegas casinos, TMZ Sports reports.

Court documents show that in May 2024, Morris allegedly obtained $115,000 from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino using bad checks that later bounced.

A month later, he reportedly did the same at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, securing $150,000 through checks he knew wouldn’t clear.

Two arrest warrants were issued earlier this year in connection with these claims. Morris was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Sunday and has been held in custody awaiting extradition to Nevada.

At a court hearing on Tuesday, his lawyers asked for his release, saying he’s repaying his debts and freeing him would speed up the process.

The judge denied the request, stating Morris would only be released for extradition or if the warrants were withdrawn.

Morris attended the hearing quietly while his twin brother, former NBA champion Markieff Morris, watched from the courtroom.

Their agent called the situation “absolute insanity” but has made no further comments.
