The Orlando Magic have officially added forward Jamal Cain to their roster on a two-way contract, according to a report by Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel, which was later confirmed by the team in an official press release shared on social media.
Cain appeared in 37 games for the New Orleans Pelicans during the previous NBA season, where he contributed 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Before his stint in New Orleans, Cain spent two seasons with the Miami Heat, signing with them after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft.
While with the Heat, he saw action in 44 games, posting averages of 4.4 points and 2 rebounds per contest, with efficient shooting splits – hitting 49% of his field goal attempts and 35.5% from beyond the arc.
The signing of Cain marks Orlando’s second two-way contract addition this offseason, following their earlier move to sign Orlando Robinson.
As NBA teams are allowed a total of three two-way players, the Magic now have one remaining two-way slot available.
That opening was created after the team waived guard Ethan Thompson earlier in the week, who had previously held one of the two-way spots.
