The New York Knicks are undergoing a significant transformation within their coaching staff as newly appointed head coach Mike Brown begins building his group of assistants, according to a report by Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
Per Bondy, several members of the previous coaching staff will not be returning for the upcoming season. That list includes Andy Greer, Dice Yoshimoto, Daniel Brady, and Othella Harrington.
Greer had been a staple on the Knicks’ bench since the 2020–21 season, bringing years of experience. Yoshimoto, known for his player development work, had spent three seasons with the team.
Meanwhile, both Brady and Harrington had only joined the organization last season, serving in more limited roles.
In a related report, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype adds that Nick Thibodeau, who worked as an assistant video coordinator, is also parting ways with the franchise.
Notably, Nick is the nephew of former Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, whose departure paved the way for Brown’s hiring.
While departures dominate the headlines for now, there have also been new additions. Earlier this month, Brown added Riccardo Fois – a well-regarded player development coach – to his staff.
Fois brings a wealth of experience from his previous stints with the Phoenix Suns and Gonzaga University.
Additionally, the Knicks have reportedly received permission to interview Pablo Prigioni, currently an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, regarding a potential role on Brown’s bench.
Prigioni, a former NBA guard who briefly played for the Knicks during his career, is regarded as a promising up-and-coming coach in the industry.
As Mike Brown continues to shape the coaching infrastructure to match his vision, further hires and adjustments are likely to follow in the coming weeks.
