The Magic are converting Jamal Cain’s two-way contract into a standard NBA deal, Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel reports, with the team confirming the move.
Cain will fill Orlando’s 15th roster spot and be eligible for the postseason, though his two-way slot can’t be replaced due to the March 4 deadline.
The 27-year-old had been active for 43 games this season and has recently seen increased minutes due to injuries.
While his overall averages are modest, he’s provided energy and production in a larger role over the past few games.
After going undrafted in 2022 and spending time with Miami and New Orleans, this marks Cain’s first standard NBA contract.
“One thing about Jamal is that he doesn’t lack confidence,” Paolo Banchero said. “Whether (or not) he doesn’t play 10 straight games, you know he’s ready to go every single game. He’s always working.
“So, he’s a talented player. Just to have a wing like that, being able to check in and affect the game both sides of the ball, it’s huge.”
