Jacob Toppin is looking to carry his strong early momentum through the rest of Summer League with the Atlanta Hawks, according to Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

His speed, athleticism, and comfort handling the ball in transition have quickly caught the attention of the coaching staff – particularly Summer League coach Bryan Bailey.

“He’s got great size and length, plus the ability to shoot,” Bailey said. “We saw in Friday’s game, especially in the fourth quarter, that he can really push the ball in transition. He can handle it and dribble with confidence. That gives us another weapon in the open floor. Now it’s about continuing to refine those skills.”

With Atlanta already stacked with explosive, versatile wings, Toppin knows he’ll have to stand out in more than just athleticism to earn a role. He’s clear on what’s expected – and where he needs to deliver.

“Defensively, I’ve got to be a disruptor,” Toppin explained. “I need to guard one through four and keep guys in front of me. On offense, I want to be that athletic wing who sprints the floor, spaces properly, knocks down open shots, and just plays the right way.”
