The Atlanta Hawks have re-signed forward Jacob Toppin to a two-way contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto. The move keeps Toppin in the league after he split time between the NBA and G League over the past two seasons.
Toppin, who went undrafted in 2023, originally signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the New York Knicks before earning a two-way spot later that year. He made his NBA debut on December 5, 2023, against the Milwaukee Bucks.
During the 2023–24 season with New York, Toppin appeared in nine games, averaging 1.4 points in just over four minutes per game. This past season, he played in 16 games for the Knicks before being waived on March 2, 2025.
Two days after being waived, the Hawks signed Toppin to a two-way contract, giving him another opportunity to contribute at the NBA level.
While his NBA stats remain modest — career averages of 0.8 points and 0.7 rebounds in 25 appearances — Toppin has shown significant progress in the G League. In 2024–25, he averaged 22.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists over 23 games, shooting 50.3% from the field and 37.1% from three-point range.
The 25-year-old forward played for both the Capital City Go-Go and the Westchester Knicks during the 2024–25 G League season, posting a season-high average of 24.1 points in 15 games with Westchester.
