The upcoming Las Vegas Summer League could become an important platform for Devin Carter, the Sacramento Kings’ promising second-year guard, to showcase his talents.
Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports that while there haven’t been any concrete developments, the Kings have reportedly explored the possibility of including Carter in a trade package aimed at acquiring Jonathan Kuminga, a restricted free agent from the Golden State Warriors.
This willingness by Sacramento to entertain trade discussions involving Carter, who was the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft just last year, might draw increased scrutiny from rival teams, potentially including the Warriors themselves, as they observe his performance in Vegas.
When asked about the uncertainty surrounding his future, the player emphasized that he is not letting trade rumors distract him, according to Anderson.
Carter shared, “My pops, Anthony Carter, had a 13-year career and was traded multiple times. I’ve been talking to him about how he dealt with those situations. That conversation is personal between us, but for me, I focus on showing up to work every day, grateful for the chance to be here, always bringing a ready-to-work mindset. At the end of the day, it’s just business.”
Despite the off-court distractions, Carter’s start to the 2025 Summer League was a bit rocky; in his 24 minutes on the court against Orlando, he managed to connect on only 2 of his 14 shot attempts.
