The Atlanta Hawks are looking forward to getting a closer look at second-year guard Kobe Bufkin during the upcoming NBA Summer League, as reported by Grant Afseth of RG.
Bufkin has been working his way back from shoulder surgery he underwent in January, and now that he’s been medically cleared for full basketball activity, the team is eager to assess his development.
While the player may not suit up for every Summer League game in Las Vegas, early indications from team scrimmages have been highly encouraging.
According to Afseth, Bufkin has been turning heads in practice sessions since returning to action, showing signs of growth and the potential Atlanta envisioned when they drafted him.
That potential hasn’t gone unnoticed around the league. Afseth notes that the Hawks have received several trade inquiries about Bufkin, with at least one known offer coming from the Sacramento Kings earlier this week.
However, league sources say Atlanta has consistently declined those overtures, signaling a strong belief in the guard’s future with the organization.
Bufkin’s performance in Summer League could further solidify his role with the Hawks, especially as the team reshapes its roster and looks to build around its young talent.
