Vasilije Micic is expected to make his return to the EuroLeague following a buyout agreement, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
The 31-year-old Serbian guard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks on July 1 in exchange for Pat Connaughton and future draft picks. However, Marks reported shortly after the deal that “Micic is being bought out,” paving the way for his anticipated move back to Europe.
Micic has long been linked with several EuroLeague teams, including his former clubs Anadolu Efes and Crvena Zvezda. Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, and Hapoel Tel Aviv have also expressed interest in signing the veteran playmaker.
The former EuroLeague Final Four MVP played 41 games during the 2024–25 NBA season, splitting time between the Hornets and Suns. He averaged 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 19.1 minutes per contest.
Charlotte reacquired Micic on June 30 in a trade with Phoenix before shipping him to Milwaukee just one day later. The Bucks made the move to unload Connaughton, whose production declined significantly over the past year.
Micic originally signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2023. He played sparingly in his first NBA stint, averaging just 3.3 points and 2.5 assists in 12.0 minutes per game through 30 appearances.
His impact increased after being traded to Charlotte in February 2024. Over 30 games with the Hornets, he averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 assists while starting in 21 contests.
Micic’s brief run with the Suns was limited to five games and minimal playing time before being traded again.
With his NBA future now uncertain, a return to Europe appears imminent.
Micic last played in the EuroLeague in 2023, when he averaged 17.4 points and 5.4 assists for Efes.
He is widely considered one of the top European guards of the past decade and would provide a significant boost to any club aiming for a deep EuroLeague run.
