Nikola Jokic’s brilliance on the court is no secret. His vision, passing, scoring ability, and three MVP awards tell the story of one of the most gifted basketball players in the world.
Yet, what fans may not know as well is how Jokic carries himself off the court. Serbian national team teammate Vasilije Micic offered some insight into the Denver Nuggets superstar’s character and leadership.
Micic, a former guard with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, and Phoenix Suns, described Jokic as a model leader.
“Great guy, great guy. Very humble, really unique in terms of that,” he told BasketNews. “His integrity with the team and his behavior in general are really a great example for everyone who wants to become like Nikola, a superstar and NBA leader.”
For Micic, Jokic’s leadership goes beyond his elite basketball skills – it inspires those around him to raise their game.
“So seeing him as a leader in that way, it’s really even more motivating for everyone to hustle and play for the team,” he added.
Even Jokic’s daily habits impress his teammates, Micic noted.
“He never complained. He really never complains about anything. He never dresses differently. He’s always on time. He always dresses perfectly as we agreed on. It’s like a small detail, but really never, never missed since I know him,” he said.
Beyond his professional demeanor, Jokic makes a point of connecting with teammates in small, personal ways.
“And then, like his contribution with small things. He likes to play cards with us. He likes to play fantasy soccer stuff. I don’t even know what they play because I don’t know any video games. But he’s always into those things with the team, and he just does it naturally,” Micic explained, illustrating how Jokic’s presence fosters camaraderie and team cohesion.
Denver Nuggets big man’s impact extends beyond statistics, showcasing leadership and team engagement both on and off the court.
