Crvena Zvezda is making a serious push to bring Vasilije Micic back to Serbia, reportedly offering the Phoenix Suns guard a three-year, €10 million deal.

According to Sport24.gr, the EuroLeague club is positioning itself as a strong contender for the 31-year-old, who came up through Zvezda’s youth system. The Belgrade-based team is hoping its deep ties with Micic, along with the lucrative offer, will be enough to convince him to return.

The Suns have until June 29 to decide on Micic’s $8.1 million team option for the 2025-26 NBA season. Phoenix acquired him at the trade deadline in February, but he barely featured in their rotation, logging just five games and playing a total of 21 minutes.

Prior to joining the Suns, Micic averaged 7.5 points and 3.5 assists in 36 games for the Charlotte Hornets. However, he struggled with efficiency, shooting just 34.8% from the field and 36% from deep.

Crvena Zvezda is not alone in its pursuit. EuroLeague champions Fenerbahce, EuroCup winners Hapoel Tel Aviv, and his former team Anadolu Efes are also reportedly in the mix. But Zvezda’s early and aggressive approach, coupled with Micic’s personal ties to the club, may give them an edge.

Zvezda’s offer, which equates to roughly $10.7 million USD over three seasons, is considered modest in relation to other offers he has received. The Serbian guard won back-to-back EuroLeague titles with Efes and was named Final Four MVP in 2021.

Whether the former EuroLeague MVP stays in the NBA or returns to Europe will largely depend on the Suns’ decision and the player’s own priorities. If Phoenix declines the option, Micic would become a free agent, opening the door for a return to the continent.
