The Toronto Raptors and team president Masai Ujiri have mutually decided to go their separate ways. Ujiri still had one year remaining on his contract.

Ujiri began overseeing the Raptors’ basketball operations ahead of the 2013-14 season. During his 12-year tenure, the team reached the playoffs nine times.

His leadership was highlighted by the 2019 NBA Championship, which followed a bold trade for star forward Kawhi Leonard.

However, the team’s recent performance has declined, missing the playoffs the past two seasons. Since 2022, they have failed to qualify for the postseason in four of the last five years.
