Zach Edey, the center for the Memphis Grizzlies, is set to appear in court on Monday for an initial hearing related to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge, according to Ron Wilkins of the Lafayette Journal & Courier.
The incident occurred on May 1 in Indiana, where police stopped Edey after clocking him driving at 101 miles per hour in a 55 mph speed zone.
During the traffic stop, Edey told the state trooper that he was speeding because he was trying to pass another vehicle on the road.
This hearing marks the first step in the legal process related to the charge, and further details on the case are expected to emerge as it progresses.
