Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden has been named a defendant in a civil lawsuit alleging negligence in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a relative during a private party.

According to a report by USA Today Sports, the complaint stems from an incident that occurred after a New Year’s Eve gathering at Harden’s residence in 2024.

The plaintiff alleges she was sexually assaulted by Harden’s nephew following the event and claims that the All-Star guard’s security team failed to respond appropriately.

The lawsuit states that members of Harden’s in-home security ignored outside calls for help and failed to intervene, which the plaintiff argues could have prevented the alleged assault.

As a result, Harden is being sued for negligence based on the conduct of his staff.

The woman also named Harden’s nephew and other parties in the suit, which was filed earlier this month in Los Angeles County.
