The Memphis Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Zach Edey will be re-evaluated in six weeks as he continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left ankle first diagnosed on December 11.
Scotty Pippen Jr. and Brandon Clarke are expected to return to action in four to six weeks, according to the team, providing a boost to Memphis’ rotation.
Edey, 23, has played 11 games this season, averaging 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks in 25.8 minutes per game. His inside presence has been key for the Grizzlies’ defense and rebounding.
Pippen Jr., 23, has contributed primarily as a scorer and playmaker off the bench, while Clarke, 29, adds versatility at power forward with defensive and rebounding capabilities despite limited appearances this season.
Memphis is currently 17-22, sitting 10th in the Western Conference and 16.0 games back of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team has alternated wins and losses in January, including a 103-98 victory over Brooklyn on January 11.
Ja Morant leads the Grizzlies with 19.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game, while Jaren Jackson Jr. averages 18.5 points and 5.6 rebounds. Cedric Coward and Santi Aldama provide additional scoring support in the rotation.
The Grizzlies’ schedule remains challenging with upcoming road games in Orlando and Houston, as well as home contests against Denver, New Orleans, and Minnesota before the All-Star break.
