Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant has invested in Paris Saint-Germain, becoming a minority shareholder in the French club as part of a strategic partnership with Qatar Sports Investments.
As reported by The Athletic‘s Adam Crafton and Joe Vardon, Durant’s move extends his existing relationship with QSI and includes a consulting role on PSG’s prospective entry into basketball.
The investment was made through Boardroom, the media and business platform Durant co-founded with longtime business partner Rich Kleiman.
Though the financial details remain undisclosed, sources indicate the value of Durant’s stake is similar to prior ventures with QSI.
Durant said in a press release, “It is an honour to partner with QSI and be a shareholder in Paris Saint-Germain — a club and a city that is so close to my heart.”
The 36-year-old forward won his fourth Olympic gold medal in Paris last summer, strengthening his personal connection to the French capital.
The partnership arrives at a high point in PSG’s history. The club captured a historic continental treble in the 2024–25 campaign, claiming Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League.
Their 5–0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final made them only the second French club to win the tournament, and the first since Marseille in 1993.
Sources close to the matter say Durant’s involvement will center on PSG’s plans to explore the European basketball landscape.
QSI, which owns PSG, has previously shown interest in multi-sport ventures, and Durant’s influence is expected to play a key role in shaping their basketball vision.
If a European NBA division materializes, Durant’s association with PSG could extend beyond ownership. Vardon speculated that the former MVP could potentially become a foundational player or ambassador for a future PSG basketball team.
Durant averaged 26.6 points over 75 games this season with Phoenix, but multiple teams — including Houston, Miami, and Minnesota — are actively exploring trades ahead of the June 25 NBA Draft.
While Durant has privately expressed interest in joining San Antonio, the Spurs have not shown urgency in trade talks.
