Free agent guard Malachi Flynn, once a first-round selection in the NBA Draft, is officially continuing his professional career overseas.

The Turkish club Bahçeşehir Koleji announced in a press release that Flynn has signed a deal to join their roster for the upcoming season (via Sportando).

Selected 29th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, Flynn began his career with the Toronto Raptors, where he spent his first three and a half seasons.

Across 175 regular-season games with the team, he posted averages of 5.4 points and 2.0 assists per game in 15 minutes of action, shooting 37.9% from the field, 33.8% from three-point range, and 75.6% from the free throw line.

A standout at Washington State during his college years, Flynn was included in the midseason trade that sent OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa to the New York Knicks in December 2023.

However, his time with New York was brief; just a few weeks later, he was traded again, this time to the Detroit Pistons as part of the deal that brought Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks to the Knicks.

Flynn’s most memorable moment in the NBA came during the closing weeks of the 2023–24 season.

Playing for the Pistons, he delivered a stunning 50-point performance in an April matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, offering a rare glimpse of his offensive firepower.

Despite that career-high effort, Flynn found limited opportunities at the NBA level during the 2024–25 season.

He spent most of the year playing in the G League with the Austin Spurs, where he averaged an impressive 22.6 points per game on efficient .475/.391/.847 shooting over 36 games.

His strong showing earned him a brief return to the NBA on a 10-day contract with the Charlotte Hornets in March – his last appearance on an NBA roster.

Flynn, now 27, will look to reboot his career with Bahçeşehir Koleji. Although the team does not participate in Europe’s premier competitions, such as the EuroLeague or EuroCup, it remains a competitive force in the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL).

The club wrapped up the 2024–25 season with an 18-12 regular-season record and reached the semifinals of the Turkish playoffs before being eliminated by powerhouse Fenerbahçe.

As Flynn heads overseas, he brings with him both professional experience and recent momentum from his strong G League campaign.

Bahçeşehir Koleji will hope the former NBA guard can serve as a high-impact addition as they aim to build on last season’s success.
