Free agent guard Malachi Flynn has signed a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
Flynn, who had a standout performance with a career-high 50 points in April, averaged eight points in 14 minutes per game for the Detroit Pistons last season.
The 26-year-old was initially drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the 29th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Flynn’s tenure with the Raptors included notable moments, such as scoring a career-high 22 points in April 2021 and being named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month.
In December 2023, Flynn was traded to the New York Knicks along with O.G. Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa in a deal that sent RJ Barrett and others to the Raptors.
Later, in February 2024, Flynn moved to the Detroit Pistons as part of a trade involving Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.
His impressive April performance with the Pistons saw him score 50 points against the Atlanta Hawks, setting a record for the fewest career points per game by a player scoring 50 in a game.
