The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly engaged the San Antonio Spurs about trading up to the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

Philadelphia currently holds the third pick, their highest draft position since selecting Markelle Fultz first overall in 2017.

Scotto reported that the organization has identified four prospects under consideration and recently conducted a private workout with VJ Edgecombe.

Rutgers forward Ace Bailey is scheduled to visit Philadelphia for his own workout next week.

Bailey, a 6-foot-8 wing, is viewed as a potential top-three selection after averaging 19.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in his lone season with the Scarlet Knights.

His mix of athleticism, transition ability, and multi-positional defense has drawn attention from several lottery teams.

The Sixers are evaluating how Bailey’s game complements Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George.

Philadelphia’s front office has made it clear they intend to surround their veteran stars with long-term upside, beginning with their pair of top-35 picks.

While Bailey and Edgecombe are firmly in the mix, the possibility of landing a player like Dylan Harper could be the motivation behind the talks with San Antonio.

The Spurs, who finished 13th in the Western Conference with a 34-48 record, already possess multiple first-round picks and could be open to trading down to add assets.

Meanwhile, interest in Philadelphia’s current position remains high, with teams behind the Sixers are actively researching potential trade packages to move up.

With less than two weeks until the 2025 NBA Draft begins on June 25, the situation remains fluid.

The top of the draft board is expected to include Cooper Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Edgecombe, and Derik Queen.

Dallas holds the No. 1 pick after a surprise lottery win, followed by San Antonio and Philadelphia at two and three, respectively.

Philadelphia is looking to rebound after a 24-58 season and a third-to-last-place finish in the East.
