Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. is expected to decline his $2.55 million player option for the 2025–26 NBA season, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

The 25-year-old averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists across 19.9 minutes per game after being traded to Milwaukee in February. He also appeared in all five of Milwaukee’s playoff games, where he posted 11.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 30.2 minutes per game.

Porter was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for MarJon Beauchamp at the trade deadline, bringing a scoring boost to a Bucks team that had already dealt with midseason changes, including the departure of Khris Middleton and addition of Kyle Kuzma.

Following a slow 2–8 start to the 2024–25 campaign, Milwaukee turned things around, eventually clinching the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 48–34 record. The team also won the NBA Cup in December after going undefeated in group play and defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in the championship game.

Despite those accomplishments, the Bucks suffered another early playoff exit, falling in five games to the Indiana Pacers for the second consecutive season.

Porter’s decision to test free agency comes as Milwaukee faces an offseason with several roster questions. The franchise has reportedly expressed interest in retaining him, per Scotto, though his on-court production may draw interest from other teams seeking backcourt depth and scoring off the bench.

This marks the second consecutive summer in which Porter will navigate contract decisions. Last July, he signed with the Clippers before being dealt to the Bucks midway through the year.

Porter will be eligible to re-sign with the Bucks once free agency opens in July.
