The Orlando Magic put on an impressive three-point shooting display in their win over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, draining 18 shots from beyond the arc.
However, as The Orlando Sentinel’s Jason Beede notes, that performance was more of an outlier than the norm for a team that has struggled from deep throughout the 2024-25 season.
Orlando currently ranks last in the NBA in three-point shooting percentage, connecting on just 31.4% of their attempts.
In terms of volume, they attempt 35.3 threes per game, placing them 23rd in the league.
Star forward Franz Wagner acknowledged the impact that hot shooting has on the team’s overall offense.
“It changes our game completely when we have shooting like that and guys just can’t sit in the paint,” Wagner said.
With opponents often packing the paint against them due to their inconsistent outside shooting, the Magic will need more performances like Tuesday’s if they hope to add another dimension to their offense.
